It’s never too early to get kids started on learning God’s Word. However, with so many publications out there, you may be wondering: what are some of the best Bibles for children available?
I think choosing the best Bible for your kid depends on several factors. This includes his / her reading age, the quality of writing and illustrations, fun-factor, and much more.
That being said, I’ve listed what I feel to be some really good children Bibles worth checking out. All of them have also received plenty of five-star reviews from satisfied parents. In addition, I’ve made sure to include kids’ Bibles catered to a variety of ages.

1. The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Children’s Stories (0-4 years)
For nearly 30 years, The Beginner’s Bible has been praised by parents as one of the best Bibles for very young kids. This is largely thanks to its ease of reading and exciting retelling of famous Biblical stories.
I especially love the full-page, beautifully bright drawings that run through all 512 pages. There are 90 exciting Bible stories inside, including Noah’s Ark, the Tower of Babel, Jonah and the giant whale, and many more.

In short, The Beginner’s Bible is among the best Bibles for children that’ll keep them entertained for hours on end!
2. The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name (4-11 years)
This Bible for kids is already a decade old. Yet, it’s still a bestselling classic today!
Most best Bibles for children focus on a direct retelling of Old and New Testament stories. However, I adore how this book dives even deeper, with each story used as a chance to point directly to Jesus as the cornerstone of God’s salvation.
In addition, I love the simple and colorful illustrations that harken back to the style of old-school children’s books. The Jesus Storybook Bible contains 21 and 23 Old and New Testament stories respectively, making for ample reading time.

3. The Big Picture Story Bible (8-12 years)
Covering Genesis all the way to Revelation, The Big Picture Story Bible tells God’s big story in an exciting way suited for young to slightly older kids. This book is often compared to The Jesus Storybook Bible, owing to its high quality illustrations and storytelling.
Quite a few children’s Bibles shy away from teaching the importance of repentance – which can be tricky to convey to young kids. However, I appreciate TBPSB effort to include such themes in a totally accessible, non-confrontational way. In addition, the book also gives you free access to audio readings of each story, perfect for read-alongs!

4. Laugh and Grow Bible for Kids: The Gospel in 52 Five-Minute Bible Stories (4-8 years)
Anything written by the creator of VeggieTales can’t go too wrong. And, indeed, this children’s Bible is absolutely delightful!
Packed with 52 gorgeously illustrated Bible stories, I love how Phil weaves his light-hearted storytelling without watering down God’s Biblical truths. Moreover, this fun Bible also contains charts, maps, and other tools not included in most other best Bibles for children.
There’s also a Family Connection devotion at the end of each story. This gives parents a golden chance to spend time teaching their kids. Perfect!

5. The Complete Illustrated Children’s Bible (5-8 years)
I love the heftiness of this children’s Bible, clocking in at 608 pages! It contains a generous dose of nearly 300 full two-page illustrations. Everything is also super easy to read for young kids, printed on high-quality glossy pages.
In addition, I think this children’s Bible does a great job covering many of God’s key teachings and moments. However, if I have one point of criticism, I do find each story a little too short – no more than one page-spread in length. Still, this might appeal to kids who prefer bite-sized stories that move at a fast (rather than detailed) pace.
For slightly older kids (8-12), I suggest you check out The Adventure Bible. Interestingly, this release contains the actual full-length Bible! However, what makes it so unique is its colorful notes, sidebar explanations, maps, and other fun features that help to make the Bible far more accessible to children.
Keep in mind, though, that because it includes the NIV Bible, you may want to read this with your kids when certain ‘grown-up’ themes are introduced.
6. A Child’s First Bible (4-8 years)
An ECPA award winner, I think this release is perfect as…. well, a child’s first Bible! It contains 125 vividly illustrated Bible stories balanced between the Old and New Testaments. In addition to easy-to-understand text, I liked the simple questions added at the end of every story. This allows children to think more about what they’ve learnt.
This kids’ Bible also measures in at a mere 5.5 x 7 inches. The smaller size makes it much easier to carry around compared to many other best Bibles for children.
However, I do have to add that a few key Bible stories are oddly missing from this collection. Certain pivotal teachings in some stories have also been excluded. Nonetheless, overall, I highly recommend A Child’s First Bible as a great Bible for kids to begin their own faith journeys.
7. The Early Readers Bible (4-8 years)
This classic children’s Bible has entertained millions of kids around the world. There are 64 colorfully illustrated Bible stories inside, each rounding off with fun thought-provoking questions.
Many parents have also praised this book for helping kids learn to read better. This is largely thanks to its smooth flow of common early reader words, as well as its well-paced introduction of Biblical vocabulary.
In short, while containing fewer stories than most other good children’s Bibles, the quality of the presentation and learning tools here is top notch! Check out the reader reviews for more.
8. My First Bible Stories (4-7 years)
The best Bibles for children always come with gorgeous illustrations. However, this Bible in particular totally wowed me with its elegant and whimsical artwork that cover every page. It’s absolutely beautiful – and others have said the same too!
In addition to a good collection of Bible stories, this release also includes over 100 prayers and writings. A nice bonus touch that gives parents and kids a chance to bond together with God!
I think it’s worth pointing out that a few small sections contain slightly odd Biblical interpretations. For example, in the Creation story, the book says God was very angry with Adam and Eve, and immediately asks them to leave the Garden. However, in the actual Bible, God is far more patient.
Regardless, these atypical moments only detract slightly from the book’s overall high quality. In short, I regard My First Bible Stories as easily one of the best children’s Bible available today.

Read-Aloud Bible Stories is a 5-book series that masters the art of telling Bible stories in very simple ways – without losing important details and lessons! Despite being published decades ago, these books are still delighting kids today.

11. The Bible Made Easy – for Kids (9-12 years)

Bible Infographics for Kids pops with fantastic infographics that helpfully convey concise Biblical knowledge in bright and simple graphics. There are also tons of quirky fun facts that’ll surely entertain the little ones. Did you know it’d take 7,453,506 soccer balls to fill up Noah’s Ark? Neither did I, heh.
13. If I Could Ask God Anything: Awesome Bible Answers for Curious Kids
Children reading their Bibles will naturally start to ask questions – as they should! If I Could Ask God Anything does a great job answering many of these in simple – yet, discreetly profound – ways. I’d even recommend this read to adults! In short, it’s a great accompaniment to other children’s Bibles.
